How Emkao Began

Our story began on a family cacao farm in Cameroon. Growing up around cocoa meant witnessing both the pride of producing something extraordinary and the reality that farmers often do not receive fair value or recognition for their work. With formal training in chocolate making and experience in business, a vision emerged: to create a company that connects people directly to the source and demonstrates that ethical sourcing can be real, transparent, and scalable. That vision became Emkao — a farmer-first cocoa and chocolate company dedicated to creating opportunity at origin and within the communities where production takes place. Since 2021, operations have included a branch in Vancouver, building a strong and proven foundation. The next step is bringing that model to Binghamton.

That's why I started Emkao: to build a farmer-first cocoa and chocolate company that creates opportunity at origin and in the communities where we produce. We currently operate a branch in Vancouver, Canada, running since 2021. Now we're bringing that proven foundation to Binghamton, New York.
